Welcome to the blog of a Dutch photographer living in Thailand.
I was born in The Hague, The Netherlands
I started my photography career at the end of the 80-ties. I had a job that I did not like that much, and took a photography course at the Fotovakschool in Apeldoorn.
At one moment I quit my job and started in 1990 my own company. In The Hague I worked for some Government departments like Min. VROM, Min. VWS, Min. Fin. But also for the SPD, Kerk in Den Haag, Migrantenpost, Allochtonenkrant. You can see some of my work from that period at the Haagse Beeldbank.
In 2001 I meet my wife during a holiday in Thailand, and got married in 2002. I decided to stop my company and migrate in 2003 to Thailand. To work official here you need someone to work for. I found a photo press agency in The Hague, WFA, and started to work for them. In 2010 WFA joined Novum Nieuws news agency and now I work for them on freelance base.
The first years we lived in Bangkok, but after my son was born in 2007 we moved for his well being to the North in Thailand.
The photos on this blog are copyright protected, this means that if a photo is being used in any form of publication, a price tag is involved. So please contact me if you are interested in the use of one.
All the photos are originally digital color and transformed to black and white with the use of the Gorman-Holbert B&W Conversion action in PH, using a sepia color. Even if outcome looks nice, it will never win from a barite paper print developed in a warm tone developer .
